Mezzodi’s actually got its start in a quaint neighborhood in Des Moines known as Beaverdale at a landmark restaurant named Christopher’s. This is where two brothers Ron and BJ Giudicessi grew up in the restaurant industry within their father’s restaurant.
The two brothers have had multiple roles within their families’ business throughout the years, everything from business management to bartending; cooking to washing dishes. They decided in late 1999 to branch out and create a venture that would expand their services to another Des Moines neighborhood. Much time and thought went into where their new operation would be located would it be in a new neighborhood in a suburb, serve the Downtown community or another established Des Moines neighborhood. In the end they decided to move to Des Moines’ Southside in an area that not only had plans for revitalization and development but was the neighborhood where their father grew up and where they have many family and friends.
December 6, 2000 Mezzodi’s opened its doors on Des Moines’ Southside and today the brothers continue to serve Des Moines in two vibrant and cultured neighborhoods.
